RULES:

The CHOPIN PIANO COMPETITION (IV International Online Instrumental Performance Competition - Vienna 2023) is open to pianists of all nationalities and ages. The Competition is divided into different age categories.
Participants are required to submit video recordings, which do not need to be in a professional quality.

JURY
Jury members will consist renowned performing artists and experienced pedagogues. Work of the Jury is regulated by the special Jury Protocol.

AWARDS
Competitors are qualified according to the average grade point of evaluations by the Jury:
Ist Prize: from 90 to 100
II Prize: from 80 to 89
III Prize: from 70 to 79
Distinction: from 60 to 69
Special Financial Prizes for the best performances of pieces by F. Chopin.
The decision of the Jury is final and irrevocable.
Prizewinners and their teachers will receive diplomas and certificates by mail.

COMPETITION SCHEDULE
Application deadline: 28.02.2023
To apply for the Competition participant must submit:
-completed application form
-scan of ID or passport
-photo
-a video recording: YouTube link
-payment confirmation – application fee amount 40 Euro. Commissions and expenses for translation, pays contestant.

Incomplete application including failure to pay fees will be disqualified. Inscription fee is not refundable.
Video recording regulations:
It's not allowed to edit sound or view inside the piece. Different pieces can be recorded and submitted separately. The video recording must be done after 28.02.2022. The camera view must show performer clearly. Memorisation is no mandatory. Only links to the YouTube are accepted – please do not send files to download.
All video materials sent by participants are property of the competition, and can be use in the competition’s YouTube channel, website and other social media.
Winners will be announced on our website on 20.03.2023.

REPERTOIRE AND AGE CATEGORIES
Category A: participants born after January 1st, 2015; free choice repertoire; time limit – max. 5 min.
Category B: participants born between January 1st, 2013 – December 31st, 2014, free choice repertoire; time limit – max. 8 min.
Category C: participants born between January 1st, 2009 – December 31st, 2012, free choice repertoire; time limit – max. 10 min.
Category D: participants born between January 1st, 2005 – December 31st, 2008, free choice repertoire; time limit – max. 15 min.
Category E: participants born before December 31st, 2004, free choice repertoire; time limit – max. 20 min.
Organizers recommend including Chopin's works to the repertoire.
